Gower Hotel

When Dave Waddington and his family made the decision to move into the hospitality business they turned to hotel specialists Kilsby & Williams for help.

Dave wanted to buy and run a rural hotel or guest house in South Wales and earmarked The Gower Hotel in Bishopston on Swansea’s Gower peninsular as a business with the right sort of potential he was looking for. But he needed help in what proved to be lengthy negotiations to make the purchase.

Kilsby & Williams has years of experience and expertise in the hotel trade and was able to help, firstly, at the negotiation stage – including how to structure the deal in the most tax-efficient way, and then in the preparation of business forecasts and the creation of a business plan to assist in securing the necessary bank funding.

Once Dave and his family had bought the hotel, Kilsby & Williams’ Managing Partner, Noel Williams, and his team also assisted in setting up the necessary financial controls and introducing him to a range of key people to help with running the financial, food and beverage controls, and the general management required for an owner-managed business.

Noel said: “Throughout this process we have worked very closely with Dave and have built up an excellent business relationship. He is confident to pick up the phone whenever he has a query or an issue and knows he will receive sensible advice and solutions from us.

The good news is The Gower Hotel is once again a thriving business, providing an excellent service to all those who stay and visit and receiving great reviews from those who frequent it.
