Kilsby Count Up the Laps

A team from leading accountancy firm, Kilsby Williams has been crowned winner of a prestigious 24-hour cycle challenge.

The team, led by Managing Partner Simon Tee, was made up of Kilsby staff, clients and business associates, raced around the clock at Newport’s Wales National Velodrome for Cyclone24, an annual endurance challenge.

The event on Monday 23 October saw 120 people in 20 teams help raise over £20,000 for a number of important charities, including Velindre.

Kilsby’s riders managed an incredible 3,792 laps, or 948 km in 24 hours and broke two record that day – National Cyclone Record and lap record.

Simon said: “The team did exceptionally well. This is an exhausting but thoroughly rewarding challenge and to have won, is quite overwhelming.

“When we entered, the thought of winning wasn’t even on our radar, we were just keen to take part in this gruelling cycling challenge. Of course, now we have set ourselves a target for next year and will have to come back and beat it!”

Zoë Westermann, a director of Cyclone24, said: “Congratulations to the Kilsby Williams team who achieved a very impressive ride.

“Since we established the event in 2015, we have seen it go from strength-to-strength and this year was no exception. Everyone who takes part always enjoys it and to raise so much money for such a worthy cause is an achievement in itself.”
